The target for local content in the transport system is to reach 60% by 2030, he added, in a press statement on the sidelines of the third edition of the Local Content Award.

Al-Jasser also stated that the ministry is working with the Local Content Government Procurement Authority, the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, suppliers, and contractors to develop initiatives to further reinforce the local content and achieve the target level.

All purchases and components in each activity have been analyzed, and programs have been developed in the roads sector, for example, with contractors, suppliers, and manufacturers to localize additives and equipment in paving materials sourced from outside Saudi Arabia, he added.

In the maritime sector, there are massive facilities for building ships and offshore platforms, which will help raise the level of local content. In the aviation sector, raw materials are being created in Saudi Arabia, in addition to the manufacturing and maintenance of many aircraft parts in Saudi Arabia, according to the minister.
