MBC Group Co.’s board of directors accepted, on April 7, the resignation of CEO Samuel Barnett, effective April 30.

In a statement to Tadawul, the company said that the board appointed Michael Sneesby as CEO from May 1.

Sneesby is an experienced media executive with deep global experience. He most recently served as CEO of Nine Entertainment Co., Australia’s largest media company.

Prior to that, he was the founder and CEO of Stan, which he built into one of the most successful streaming platforms. He also served as CEO of the e-commerce platform Cudo, and as Vice President of IPTV at Intigral, the statement added.

The new CEO has demonstrated success in applying global technology trends to local markets, with a strong focus on digital innovation, media growth, and strategic partnerships. He has led large-scale commercial, studio, and sports rights deals.

Sneesby holds a MBA from Macquarie University (Australia) and a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Wollongong (Australia), according to the company’s statement.
