US President Donald Trump reiterated his call for the Federal Reserve to lower interest rates, after urging the central bank’s chairman to stop engaging in political maneuvers over the weekend.

In a post on his social media platform Truth Social on Monday, Trump said, “The Fed should cut rates, oil prices are down, food prices are down, and there is NO inflation.”

He also pointed out that the US is bringing in billions of dollars weekly from tariffs that have already been implemented, emphasizing that China has been the biggest beneficiary of previous low tariffs.

Trump criticized China’s decision to impose a 34% retaliatory tariff on all US imports starting April 10, despite his warnings to countries not to respond to US trade actions.

Over the weekend, Trump wrote on Truth Social, “This would be a PERFECT time for Fed Chairman Jerome Powell to cut Interest Rates.
