US President Donald Trump has suggested imposing additional tariffs on the European Union and Canada if they collaborate to cause economic harm to the United States.

He wrote in a post on his Truth Social platform on Wednesday evening that if the European Union and Canada cooperate to inflict economic harm on America, broad tariffs will be imposed – much higher than currently planned on each of them – to better protect their greatest friend ever.

This comes after Trump decided to escalate the global trade war by announcing a 25% tariff on all cars exported to the United States starting April 3, aimed at strengthening the American automotive industry.
