US crude oil inventories declined in the week ended Fed. 21, shedding as many as 2.3 million barrels, against forecasts for an increase of nearly 1.7 million barrels, the Energy Information Administration (EIA) data showed.

Gasoline stocks increased by 400,000 barrels and distillate stocks, including diesel and heating oil, rose by 3.9 million barrels.
