Minister of Transport and Logistics, Saleh Al-Jasser, said the Cabinet’s ratification of the Land Transport Law today, Feb. 18, came in support of regulating and developing road transport in all its activities, means and facilities. 
The law will help restructure local road transport to keep pace with the rapid growth and comprehensive development phase witnessed by Saudi Arabia, including the adoption of modern technologies in transport means and sustainable mobility.
This is in addition to regulating transport facilities, activating professional and technical qualifications, defining the obligations of licensees and the rights and duties of beneficiaries, in order to contribute to raising efficiency and achieving sustainability, he added.
Al-Jasser also highlighted that the new law will support achieving the objectives of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, which focuses on facilitating mobility, improving the quality of life, facilitating economic and social movement through transport services of top standards of quality, efficiency and safety, while attracting sector investment.
He stressed that the adoption of the Land Transport Law will empower investors and strengthen investment opportunities, ensuring fair competition and activating the role of the private sector as a key partner in development.
This would in turn boost the sector’s contribution to GDP and position Saudi Arabia as a leader in integrated transport services and a global logistics hub as per Vision 2030, according to the minister.
