HAU Energy, a subsidiary of China Energy, began executive works for the construction of ACWA Power Co.’s 1,100-megawatt wind energy project in Egypt, sources told Al-Arabiya.

ACWA Power obtained the necessary licenses from the Egyptian Electric Utility Agency. It is committed to raising authorized capital of the venture to $100 million and add the activity of selling electric power to its purposes, the sources added.

The project, to be among the region’s largest wind projects, is scheduled to be implemented in two 550-MW phases; the first to be completed in Dec. 2026, while the second to will be finalized by June 30, 2027.

The contractor’s contract represents 70-80% of the project’s total implementation costs, the sources noted.

According to data available to Argaam, ACWA Power signed on Dec. 30 financing agreements for the development, construction, operation and maintenance of a 1,100-megawatt wind power plant in Suez Governorate, Egypt, which is valued at SAR 2.64 million. The investment cost is estimated at SAR 4.13 billion, with the company holding a 70% stake.
