TheMinistry of Commerce issued 160,540commercial registers in Q42024,a rise of 67% from95,860in the year-earlierperiod, according to its quarterly bulletin on the performance of the local business sector.

Geographically, Riyadh, Makkah and Eastern Provincecame on topin terms of the number of commercial registers issued during thethree-month period,with rises ofabout39%,17% and16%, respectively,as indicated in the following table:

In detail, about 33,380 of the total commercial registers were issued by the ministry in Q4 2024 for limited liability companies, with 12 others were granted to limited partnerships.

Further, as many as 118 commercial registers were issued to joint-stock companies, while 80 and 102 others were handed over to simplified joint-stock and general partnership firms, respectively.

The total commercial registers reached 1.61 million in all regions, including 1.19 million for institutions and 413,470 for companies.

Of the active commercial registers, 38% are owned by young people, and 30% are owned by women.

Riyadh topped the regions in terms of existing records with about 533,330, or 33%, of the total. Makkah followed with about 349,380 registers,as shown below:
