US oil inventories fell by 3.2 million barrels during the week ended Dec. 20, data from the American Petroleum Institute (API) showed.

Gasoline inventories rose by 3.9 million barrels last week, while distillate inventories—which include diesel and heating oil—fell by about 2.5 million barrels.

Meanwhile, Brent crude futures for February 2025 delivery rose 1.3%, or 95 cents, to close $73.58 a barrel on Dec. 24.

WTI crude futures for February 2025 delivery climbed 1.25%, or 86 cents, to $70.10 a barrel.
