Saudi ports reported a 9% drop in cargo throughput tonnage to 670,190 tons in November, compared to 737,630 tons in the same period a year ago. 
In a statement, the Saudi Ports Authority (MAWANI) said that outbound containers rose by 23% to 261,030 in November, from 212,200 in the prior-year period. The number of inbound containers also increased by 16% year-on-year (YoY) to 259,400, compared to 224,300 containers in November 2023.
Transshipment containers were down 49% YoY to 138,700, compared to 274,200 TEUs in November 2023.
The general cargo reached 1.13 million tons in November, while dry and liquid bulk cargo reached 3.6 million and 13.06 million tons, respectively. Ports received 716,500 livestock heads for the same month, down 5% compared to 754,120 in the same month of 2023.
The maritime traffic saw a decline of 7% YoY to 949 ships in November. The number of passengers also fell 16% to 66,400 last month, compared to 74,900 last year. Meanwhile, the number of cars increased by 12% YoY to 99,800 for the same month.
